Tenaim invitation wording

The tenaim invitation is short and to the point: one father invites, names the chosson and the other side’s father, and gives the date, the hall and the time. The wording below works for either side.

The wording, line by line

1The invitation, from one father in the first person (הנני, מכירי). Keep בני or בתי, whichever is yours.

2The chosson by name, and the father of the other side, the מחותן. The slashes let one card serve either side: keep the words that fit yours and delete the rest.

    3The headline.

December 1, 2026

4The day and the parsha, the Hebrew date, and the English date.

5The hall, the address and the time.

6The father who invites, then his own father (ב״ר, son of) and his father-in-law (חתן ר׳, son-in-law of), so everyone knows which family it is.

One card for either side

The same design works for either side: you change בני / בתי and כמר / עב״ג to fit your side, and put the other father’s name as the מחותן.

Names on the card

The chosson is named; the kallah is not. The fathers are named with their titles, and the inviting father adds his own father and father-in-law under his name.

The date

Tenaim often come together quickly. In the editor the Hebrew date and the parsha fill in from the day you pick, and you can send the card on WhatsApp the moment you pay.
