Wedding invitation wording

A heimish chasunah invitation keeps a set order: a pasuk, the invitation itself, the chosson and kallah, the date, the hall and the times, and the parents at the bottom. Here is that wording line by line, the way it sits on our wedding designs.

The wording, line by line

    1Small, at the very top.

2The pasuk from Yirmiyahu that opens almost every chasunah invitation.

3The invitation: with praise and thanks to Hashem, we invite all our friends to share in our simcha.

4The big word in the middle of the card.

5The chosson by name, with נ״י after it. The kallah is written as הכלה המהוללה, without her name.

November 18, 2026

6The day of the week and that week’s parsha, then the Hebrew date, then the English date.

1420 50th Street, Brooklyn NY

7The hall, then its address, usually in English letters.

8The times of the evening: kabbalas panim, the chuppah, and the simchas chosson v’kallah.

9Both sets of parents sign: each father’s name, followed by ורעייתו (and his wife). The mothers are not named.

Names on the card

In the wording above only the chosson and the two fathers are named: the kallah is הכלה המהוללה, and the mothers are ורעייתו after their husbands’ names. The names on our designs are samples; you type your own over them.

The date lines

In the editor you pick the day once: the day of the week, the parsha, the Hebrew date and the English date all fill in by themselves, so the three lines always agree.

Yiddish or English lines

The wording above is lashon kodesh, the way most chasunah invitations are written. Any line can be in Yiddish or English instead; the editor writes right to left and left to right on the same card.
